How much does a Shopify website cost in the UK? (2026)

Updated November 2026. Shopify prices taken from shopify.com/uk/pricing on 2 November 2026; check that page before you commit, as Shopify changes them.

A Shopify website in the UK has two costs: what Shopify charges every month, and what it costs to get the store designed and built. This guide breaks down both, so you can budget before you speak to anyone.

1. Shopify's monthly plans (UK)

Plan Paid monthly Paid yearly (per month) Online card rate (Shopify Payments)
Basic £25 £19 2% + 25p
Grow £65 £49 1.7% + 25p
Advanced £344 £259 1.5% + 25p
Plus From £1,800 a month 1.3% + 25p

Hosting, SSL and unlimited products are included on every plan. Most small businesses start on Basic and move to Grow when they need staff accounts or lower card fees.

2. Fees people forget

  • Third-party payment fees. If you take payments through a provider other than Shopify Payments, Shopify adds its own fee on top: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced.
  • Klarna and Amex cost more than standard cards (Klarna is 4.99% + 30p on Basic to Advanced).
  • Apps. Reviews, subscriptions, upsells and advanced filters are often paid apps billed monthly. Add them up before launch, because they renew automatically.
  • Theme. Shopify's free themes are good. Paid themes from the Theme Store are a one-off fee, usually a few hundred pounds.
  • Domain. Around £10–£20 a year for a .co.uk or .com.
  • VAT. Agency and freelancer prices are often quoted +VAT, so check whether a quote includes it.

3. What a build costs

Build prices vary more than anything else. Published UK prices we checked in November 2026 range from a few hundred pounds for a set-up on a free theme, to around £3,500 and up for a small agency build, to five and six figures for large stores with ERP integrations. What moves the price:

  • Theme-based or fully custom design
  • Number of pages, collections and products to load
  • Migrating products, customers and orders from WooCommerce, Wix or another platform
  • Custom features or integrations (stock systems, B2B pricing, subscriptions)
  • Copywriting and photography

4. Questions to ask any Shopify developer

  • Is the price fixed, and what exactly is included?
  • How many rounds of revisions do I get?
  • When will it launch, and what do you need from me?
  • Will I own the store, theme and content outright?
  • Which paid apps will I need, and what do they cost each month?
  • Is basic SEO set up (titles, descriptions, redirects from my old site)?
